MISSION FOR ASMSU GENERAL ASSEMBLY

WE CAN’T WAIT!

Goal: Setting an unprecedented standard of outward facing and student-inclusive leadership. Empower students to champion the solutions to their challenges.

Measures

Ensure a one-on-one meeting with each GA rep, first to establish a genuine and equal friendship with them. Secondly, to throw the full weight of my support behind their goals for the students they serve.

Employ a GA and constituent coordinator for the Office of The President. Their role will include updating GA members on the progress of their passed bills. If it comes down to a funding issue, I am happy to slip my salary with them.

Update my calendar with administrative meetings, and share the calendar with the GA so that they can attend any meetings related to the bills which they pass.

Offer GA reps an optional participatory Governance training at the start of their term. That way, they can gain outreach skills that will empower them to effectively engage their constituents in their decision making.

Work with each GA rep to host town hall meetings in each of their colleges in order to create campus-wide conversations of topics that concern students.

Engage CORES and COPS further by sitting in at least one of their meetings.

Helping GA members to set up easy and accessible feedback mechanisms from their constituents.

Create an ex-officio seat at the General Assembly for members of the Council of Graduate Scholars. They shall have speaking rights but no voting rights. Given that most ASMSU policies impact Graduate scholars as well, their input is imperative.
