Voraciously pursue the stationing of a student on the board of trustees. This advocacy item has
passed both at ASMSU and at the most recent Winter Association of Big Ten Students. It is time
students become an integral piece of decision making that affects students.
Invite official correspondents from a wide range of diverse student run newspapers of campus to
attend all ASMSU meetings. This will hold the student government accountable to its constituents, as
well as allow correspondents the opportunity to report accurate information to students.
Publish all ASMSU minutes and budget updates on the website so that interested students can find
avenues to get involved with their student government.
Create a consolidated ASMSU calendar with major CORES, COPS, Class Councils, Staff, and funded RSO
events. Share it on the ASMSU website so as to inform students and encourage their engagement.
Resurrect former ASMSU President Lorenzo Santavika’s weekly 60 second video updates to the student
Invite the general student body into the advocacy process. After bills are passed, extend a hand of
partnership to other student organizations passionate about the specific issue. Then create an
informal task force that will see the bill through till the end.
Install opinion boxes at several locations on campus where students can anonymously share their
thoughts and concerns.
Consistently host bi-weekly office hours.
Circulate a more detailed flowchart of progress with bills and ASMSU members and administrators who
are handling the process. This will ensure that the general student body is fully informed of
specific matters regarding their wellbeing.
